About Us - Our Vision

Nottingham-based Healthy Eating Solutions Ltd was founded in 2011 with our roots firmly planted in the promotion of healthy eating advice for the corporate, community and education sectors. We have a passionate interest in the interpretation, delivery and promotion of healthy eating initiatives to make healthy eating easier. We provide straight-talking advice to equip our audience with the know-how to make informed dietary behaviour choices. 

The Team

Rupert Aikman

Founder – Rupert’s interest in nutrition was ignited upon returning to education and studying for a BTEC Sports Science Diploma.  He then went on to graduate from Nottingham Trent University (BSc Food & Nutrition) and University of Sheffield (MMedSci Human Nutrition). Rupert is a registered member of the Nutrition Society and engages  in continuous development and enhancement of his nutritional knowledge and skills.

Prior to  founding Healthy Eating Solutions Ltd, Rupert worked for several years as a community nutritionist for NHS Leicestershire Nutrition and Dietetic Service, on a weight management programme.

Rupert is a visiting lecturer at colleges and universities, offering an insight into his career journey as a nutritionist. He is also a registered Level 2 Food Safety trainer, a certified type 2 diabetes coach, and a healthy lifestyle tutor for Workers Educational Association and Nottinghamshire County Council Inspire Libraries.

Rupert is an ardent believer in being physically and mentally active and basing food choices on plant-based foods to reduce the risk of dietary-related illnesses, such as type 2 diabetes, obesity and certain cancers. 

He has an in-depth knowledge of the African-Caribbean diet and is an associate director of the Nottingham cancer charity, The Rose Thompson Foundation. He has regularly appeared on local 97.5 Kemet radio and BBC Radio Nottingham broadcasts, sharing his knowledge and opinions on topical nutritional issues.

Nicky Gray

Nicky is a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and currently works as a Community Public Health Nurse with children and young people aged 0-19. She is also a co-founder and a director of Project Wish CIC working within communities to empower citizens to improve their health and well-being.  Additionally, she has specialist knowledge of food allergies and intolerances, drawing on personal experience to provide specially-tailored education and training.

Sarah abdula

Sarah has been a registered dietitian for the last 10 years and specialises in both weight management and type 2 diabetes. She has a vast array of experience working in both corporate and community settings delivering both clinical and health promotion work. She can deliver one-to-one consultations over the phone or video and is qualified to offer advice about:

  • Bariatric weight loss surgery.
  • Dietary support alongside meal replacement shakes
  • Dietary support alongside Orlistat or weight loss injections
  • Emotional and comfort eating
  • Coeliac disease
  • IBS
  • PCOS
